For years plumbers had to chip lead off of blocks for soldering and CS Osborne has provided them with a knife like no other. I also tend to think these knives are intended to be a plumber's version of a carpentry kit. Need to notch that stud? Just use hack away at it with one of these babies.

These carbon steel blades are made to take the tough abuse of being pounded upon with a hammer or marlin spike (I'm told by the San Francisco tug boat operators that a brass mallet is the preferred tool to use when cutting hawsers).

The 337 has a rectangular blade that is 5" (127 mm) long, 1 5/8" (42 mm) wide, and has a continual taper from it's 1/4" (6mm) spine to its edge. Here are both the original Osborne 337, with leather scales as a rudimentary grip, and Jack's version with Micarta or Walnut handles and a lanyard hole at the third rivet to bring the 337 up to speed for use onboard.
